Katie Hannah
I love this so much. We met at a beauty boost event here in Los Angeles, and I just loved everything you were saying. And I'm so glad we met because, you know, happiness is the key. Like, it's what everyone wants, right? Like, if you think about living, it's like, everything we're doing, it should be based off of, like, happiness.

And I don't think we put enough, like, emphasis on that and, like, what we can do to optimize our happiness. And I think that goes in with biohacking because it's, like, health and happiness, and all of it kind of comes together. So thank you so much for coming on to my podcast and taking the time out of your day. And if you would like to just give a little introduction how you got into this, you know, kind of your background and a little bit of your podcast, I would love to hear a little more. Definitely.

Well, thank you for having me on here. I'm so excited. So, I am currently a certified life coach, but I got into all of this just because, I don't know, I just wasn't fulfilled in my life. I didn't feel super happy, and I was like, I want to just find a way to be happier. And so I started just, like, taking in these little habits into my life, little things that I started doing every day.

And then eventually, I was, like, just feeling such a difference in my life, and I started posting content on Instagram and TikTok. It started resonating with people. Decided to get my life coach certification. And then I started my podcast about a year ago as well because I was like, I just want to find a different way to be able to help more people. And it's just been super exciting and, like, rewarding and fulfilling.

Just finding out how many people also felt the same way that I used to feel, too. Sorry, cut out for a second. You're good. Yeah, I just. It's really cool, too.

Like, you have a podcast and you're like, where does this go? But it's like you're able to reach more people than you ever thought with a podcast. And instead of just talking one on one with someone, you get to share it with as many people as possible, which I'm really enjoying about the podcast space because I get a lot of questions, like, is it worth it? And. Yeah, because we're helping people, right.

So I. And I love, like, all the things. Like, I was just listening to your podcast, and it's just like, these little things help every day by, like, thinking of these things, of ways to kind of change your mindset to become happier. Right? So what do you.

So, okay, so you're. Do you do daily practices? What is your go to? Like, and everyone's happiness is also different. Like, I had a discussion with someone, like, we all strive for a different type of happiness, right?

Everything kind of makes people have different ways of being happy. So what is your. Always your advice and what do you do? What is your daily practice? I would love to hear more.

Yeah, definitely. Well, first off, I completely agree with that. I think there is so many different ways that happiness looks like for everyone. And so there isn't just one way that is, like, the key to being happy. It's just, like, what makes you feel good.

It's like, also acknowledging that you're not going to be happy. Twenty four seven. And it's, like, unrealistic to be someone who is, like, 100% happy at all times. But for me, it really was just like starting a morning routine, doing things every morning that make me feel good. So that's, like practicing gratitude.

Working out every day, I know, has, like, made the biggest impact on my happiness. No screen time in the morning or at least, like, no scrolling. Just, like, doing more things that feel better for me, like, setting boundaries, saying no to things that don't align with me. I could, like, keep going on, but it really is those, like, little daily things that you do that end up making a big difference and then you're like, two or three months into it and you're like, oh, my God, I can't believe, like, how much my life has changed because of these little habits. Yeah, I definitely think, like, just gratitude.

Like, when you, you know, and I've had this conversation with people, you know, like, say, 100 years ago and they looked at our future now, you would think people would be extremely happy, right? Like, you're just like, oh, my gosh, I have a phone. I can go message people. I can send photos in a second. I can look up whatever material I want.

I mean, parents would be like, I had to go to a library or I had to do to send someone a photo. It'd be like mail or something. I don't know. So we have so much, right? I look around, I'm like, I have no idea where this furniture came from.

I have no idea where this pen came from. Like, you would think we'd be extremely happy because we have so much, right, but actually, depression, anxiety, all these things are getting worse and worse. Do you have, do you also implement any health protocols as well? Have you worked on your health, like, your physical or mental or is it mostly just mindset and what it's like? Have you implemented that as well?

Definitely. I think the boat, like, the two are very connected. So even just when I'm eating healthier or when I'm taking care of my body, I've noticed, like, such a big difference between the two. Like, working out every day, even if it's just some type of movement. Like, I've just noticed such a big difference for me, just being able to get movement in and eating healthier and not, like, drinking as much.

Just those little habits, like, health wise, I feel like, have made such a big difference for me, too. Yeah, I think, like, I haven't been drinking much at all, and I don't like to go to the extremes of, like, not, you know, like, I'm not going to drink for, you know, ever. But I will have to say, like, cutting out a lot of alcohol has really contributed to my happiness. I think we get into these cycles of drinking and then we. It's like, you know, and you're just like, you wake up, you're hungover or something, you kind of feel like crap, and then you do it all over again.

And kind of when you get out of that cycle, you're like, wow, this feels amazing. Like, I can do so much more because I'm functioning better. And also, like, I. Whenever I do drink, it's like, yes, it's fun at night, but then the next day, I always feel a little down. So I think it's also great to be aware of these things and to notice, like, how you can maybe also hack.

Like, I don't want to go to the extreme and ever say, I'm going to drink again. I do like to go out and maybe have a nice cocktail. It's more about the, like, I don't know, like, the feeling of going out to dinner and having a pretty cocktail or something. No, definitely. But, you know, then I'm just like.

So I try to, like, do my charcoal and my glutathione and detox my liver. And so these are, like, these. These little things I do. I biohack to kind of, like, help my happiness as well. Like, I've worked on my mind and also my physical and also my brain.

Like, I think a lot of people are focusing on the physical and not also, like, how we can biohack our brain as well, because it's all kind of, like, neurotransmitters, this dopamine, like, all these things. And I think we have a lot of toxins now that are contributing to depression when it comes to our health. So it's like, I think we have to read those self help books. Do that gratitude. Do your gratitude journal, and then also add in, like, maybe supplements or specific nutrients that can optimize our body and mind as well.

So I have a question. So what is your favorite books? What is, like, I'm a big fan of, like, books that have helped me, you know, my happiness. So what is your go tos that have helped you with your happiness? Yeah, I have, like, a long.

I have a long list. I feel like, because every single time I read a book, I'm like, oh, my God, this is literally, like, changed my life. But I think, like, my top are the four agreements. I think that book was, like, after I read that book, I was like, I don't feel the same as when I started the book just because there's so many little, huge mindset shifts, honestly, within that, like, taking things less personally. Mm hmm.

And just, like, that was the biggest takeaway I had from that. Another good book I read was the ten secrets for success and inner peace by Wayne Dyer. I think, like, all of his books are just amazing, and I have not read that one. Oh, my gosh. I'm so excited.

That one was like, I think I read it cut out oh, are we good? Yeah. What was the other one? Well, I feel like I've read that book, like, four times, and I've made my whole family read it, too. And they also read it multiple times after they read it, so that one was a really good one.

The subtle art. That book was also a really big game changer for me. I read that one in, like, college, though, and then. Yeah, I think there's so many different books in each of those. It depends what phase of your life you're in or where your mind is at the time, where it's like, okay, I really need to read this book right now.

Or if I read it, like, I read the powers within you by Louise hay like, a year ago, and I didn't end up finishing it, and then this year, I picked it up again. I was just like, I had it on my bookshelf. I was like, I need a new book to read. And I read it, and I was like, oh, my God, that book just completely changed everything for me. So it's really crazy how, like, at different times in your life.

Yeah, I think those are. Have you read untethered soul? I haven't. I've heard so many good things about it, though. That was like a game changer for me, because it's like, we do not have to, like, we kind of can control our thoughts.

And so that was kind of the big takeaway I got out of that was like, you know, I don't have to focus on something negative. I can focus on something whatever. Like, I choose to, like, what I want to focus on, right? Like, I'm choosing my, like, attention, basically. So it's like, why not choose something that I enjoy and that's positive?

And I think we need to think about that a lot when we watch tv or watch the news or these things, how they're impacting our mindset and our health, because it's, like, everything we're surrounded by when it comes to maybe the television or friends or they're. It's all impacting our mind and our energy. And so we have to, like, think about whatever, what we're doing. Is this helping, you know, is this going to benefit me, like, in a positive way? Is this positive energy?

Is this beautiful energy? Or is this something negative that's not going to, like, help my maybe anxiety or depression or happiness, you know? Like, so it's something to always keep in mind for people that I don't think a lot of people think about, you know, because this took, like, for you, too. Like, it takes work. Right.

Like, I feel like we all come from a background of, like, not thinking this way. Like, you know, and we have to, like, learn and teach ourselves by, like, reading books and podcasts and everything to kind of have, like, a different positive mindset, you know? Definitely, yeah. Everything that we consume really just becomes what our thoughts are, and it becomes our beliefs, and then that just ends up how we, like, end up operating and what we end up attracting into our life. So it's, like, so important to just be mindful of everything you're consuming.

All, like, the accounts you're even following on social media, the music you're listening to. Like, it is also related to no one, really, not no one. But a lot of people don't realize how, like, interconnected they are. So how do you. I was listening to, like, you talk about comparing because I do that a lot.

And I also look at everyone else as kind of, like, amazing, but don't look at myself that way. I'm like, all the, like, I don't think we look at ourselves and as positive as we do as other people. And I'm like, I've look at all these accomplishments, but I don't ever give myself credit, you know? Like, it's like I look at everyone else, I'm like, oh, my gosh, this and this, and I'm like, wait, look at me. I forget to, like, you know, give myself credit, you know?

So how do you go about not comparing and making yourself, like, because you mentioned that in your podcast as well. Yeah, I think comparison is very easy for all of us to do because we're always, like, looking at other people and then looking back at ourselves and being like, what am I lacking compared to other people? Or, like, where. What am I missing compared to other people? And I think, first off, it just goes from filling up your own cup first and just being like, what is everything that I have within me?

What are the great things about me? And anytime I do find myself even comparing or I'll be like, oh, that person's better than me at this or that's happening for that person. And, like, obviously I'm happy for them, but then I make it instead of making it feel like something's lacking in my life because of that, I always try to go down that list of, like, okay, what am I proud of myself for? What am I doing great right now? And again, it just goes into, like, that self love aspect, too, because when you're really just giving yourself that love when you're celebrating your big and little wins.

You're also able to not compare as much. And just realizing that, like, every single one of us are so, so on our own journey, on our own path, on our own timeline, we are just. Going to take a quick pause and talk about something I am loving right now from Paleo Valley. They're 100% grass fed bone broth protein powder. Their vanilla is my go to.

Katie Hannah
It's easy to feel behind, but there is no such thing as actually being behind in your own life because it's like your own timeline, in your own path. And when you realize that, I think it's a really big game changer, because you're like, well, just because that person's doing this thing right now, it doesn't mean that that's the time for me. Like, maybe this time in my life is about doing x, y, and z thing, and I get to learn this while they're doing x, y, and z. So, yeah, it's just all about being on our own path and journey and accepting that there is no, like, timeline that we're necessarily supposed to be on. Yeah, I think that's a good point.

Like, always just better, like, working on ourselves and looking at, like. And that's why I think, just, like, the mindset is such a big deal. Like, because we can always look at any situation and look at it as a positive or negative, you know? So it's like, taking any situation and using it the best you can and looking at it as a positive way instead of, like, using, you know, just becoming fearful and worried and depressed. It's like, you can change your mindset, right?

So it's like, I think it's like that daily practice, and I think people have to realize too, like, you can't just stop. Like, you're not just gonna be, like, regis type of happiness and you're like, okay, I'm good. Like, this is, like, daily practice that people should be implementing. I think daily or whenever you can. You know, I know time is always constrained, but it's like, this is always, like, daily practice.

And I want to do this because I want to feel happy, right? Like, people, like, I've always just, like, people are just, you know, I listen to also, like, what makes people happy. I think people have these goals of, like, until I get this wealthy or until I accomplish this, and then you accomplish it, and then you're like, okay, now what? Like, it's always, like, that journey to whatever goal you have. Like, I've heard there's, like, a happiness guy, like, at Harvard.

I think he's from Israel or something. He's, like, famous. But he talks about, like, you know, it's always important to have goals, but it's like, that journey to that goal is what, like, you know, is what matters. Because it's like, that accomplishment when it gets there, it doesn't last that long, right? Like, it's your journey that's, like, the whole time, and then that accomplishment that lasts for, like, 24 hours of fame or 48 hours or whatever, and then it's over.

So it's like, you have to, like, think, like, enjoy every day, enjoy the moment, be in the now. And I think a lot of people are just like, what's next? What's next? What's next? Instead of, like, being in the now and enjoying the present and looking at all the beauty around us.

Right? Like, it's very fast paced now. No, it is. And everyone's just like, if I don't get x, y and z thing, I'm not going to be happy. And I've, like, fell into that.

And I see it happen to so many people where we just, like, get that goal and it doesn't feel fulfilling because, like, we're not fully enjoying. Like, if you're not able to enjoy this moment now in this present moment, you're not going to be happy once you get that either. And, like, of course it's going to be exciting for exactly those 24 hours, but after that, you're like, okay, well, now what? And then you're just going through the next goal, and you never actually end up enjoying your life because you're always just thinking of the future and not what's happening in the now. Yeah, I think it's so true.

So what do you advise as you're as a coach of a happiness, like, life coach? What do you typically work on with your clients? What do you have them, like, start. With, sorry, you don't have it for that part. Oh, yeah.

What do you typically like with your clients? What do you have them do? What is your typical practice with your patients as a life? I think it really starts off with goals firsthand and just what they want to accomplish and being able to set clear goals. I think when we have a goal, when we have more of a direction, that is just when we're more motivated, that's when we're happier, when we're working towards something.

So I always just start off with, like, okay, what are your goals? What is something that you want to work on and where do you want to get? What's that feeling that you want to feel? What would it look like? What would you see?

And being able to understand, like, the path that you're going into in the direction you're going into. I feel like it's so motivating and exciting, but of course, also very important to be able to be like, how can I also enjoy this moment now? And not just it's a lot of duality with it because you want to work towards that goal, but you also want to work towards the moment. Like, work on what's in the moment right now and what's happening in the moment. So it definitely, like, depends on the client and what they want to work on.

But I always say it's helpful to have, like, a clear goal and a point that they want to reach. Yeah, I think getting excited for something like, a goal is so important. Like, a lot of people, even older people, I think when they don't have something to strive for, it becomes kind of, like, depressing. Right? Like, it's like, what's the point?

So even very, very successful people want to keep working because they want to feel like there's something to strive for, right? Like, that provides happiness. It really does. Like, it provides excitement and it provides enthusiasm, you know? So I think no matter what age you're at, having a goal and something to, like, be excited for, passionate about, I think, is one of the keys for, like, real happiness and energy.

But I have to, like. So for me, too, like, my health was not so great. And I think that also implements, like, I think a lot, like, it goes hand in hand when people are not healthy. It kind of, like, starts inflammation. And that inflammation goes to the brain, it goes to your gut, it goes to, like, the whole body.

And so I think a lot of it is also, like, you have to work on both. It's so important if your neurotransmitters are not working because you're, you're deficient in you know some magnesium or you know, minerals or whatever then you're not, your brain's not going to function to make sure you get that dopamine, that serotonin. Like I think serotonin, it's like 70 or 80% is made in the gut. So if you have like an unhealthy gut then you're not producing like happiness and you're not motivated that. You're not motivated to read those books, you know.

So it's like, I feel like it's like this 50 50 where you have to work on your mindset and also. Work on your health. And that's why I'm just like so advocate because I think a lot of people, people are depressed right now and not looking at ways to work on it except take maybe a pill. And you know sometimes it might needed to get you over that hump. Which I'm not saying like I'm not like anti medication but I think we can do.

I think everyone should try and do these mental practices and look at the physical body first before they go on this medication that might be hard to get off of, you know. And it can be very addicting. So I just want to like implement that because it's like, I think if you go to the doctors mostly it's just like here's a pill. And not saying hey this can be very addicting or this might make you numb, you know. And so then you don't have like these emotions like I've heard with depression medication.

Like it's just like makes you very like you don't have ups and you don't have downs and you know life is all about like these emotions, right? Like you want to feel and I don't ever want to be taking something for the rest of my life either. Like I mean I just don't want to be relying on something like you know for a medication. So I think like doing these daily practices and like having a goal and then also like looking at our health and thinking like all the foods we're eating is affecting our mental state. That it's so important to try and keep inflammation down, try to stay away from toxins and then also do like these daily mindful practices as well.

Jenny Jones
So I just want to talk about something I am loving right now. You guys know I love peptides for all things regenerative healing. But level of health has one of the best oral peptides. I love all of their supplements, their liver detox, their gut repair, their ghkCU, which helps skin. The gut repair has BPC 157.

All of their oral peptides are so well thought out. And they gave me a special discount code. 10% off biohacker blondie. And the blondie is blondi, and you get 10% off any of their supplements. All of their peptides are just so well thought out.

And I love all of them. I have tried so many. So go to level up health. That's lvluphealth.com. Put in the code, and I will also put in the link in the show notes.

And you get 10% off any of their peptide supplements. So now let's get back into this amazing episode with Katie. Yeah, I'm very with you on all of that. I think it's, like, important to find the root cause instead of just, like, putting a band aid things. I feel like I'm always even with foods, I'm always looking into the benefits of it being like, okay, what can this help me with?

Katie Hannah
Will this help with my happiness? Will this help me just natural supplements, especially when I'm not feeling 100%? Because in fixing my gut, I also had a lot of gut problems. So once I was able to heal that, too, I think my energy levels went up, I felt better, and I was able to be happier because of that. So there's definitely, like, a mind body connection with all of it.

Yeah. And so you've been there. You've had, like, an unhealthy body or gut. And by doing that, by healing the body, you're able to have energy. So you're able to, like, be more excited for things.

Right. Like, it has a huge impact on your enthusiasm, I think. So, like, energy is so key. So what did you do to maybe heal and, like, what were the changes? You just had more energy.

You felt better. You were getting better sleep. You felt, you know, like, more enthusiastic. Like, the changes I made were, well, I went and got tested for all of that for, like, my gut found out, like, what was going on with that. So I went, like, a whole entire protocol.

Did you have parasites or mold or. I had, I had sibo. Okay. But even that in itself was just, like, not, you don't feel great. You're, like, always bloated.

You have, like, stomach aches, not sure why it's happening. And I think it's so frustrating when you're like, I don't know what's wrong with me. Like, why don't I feel 100% also, like, intolerant to gluten and dairy. But I found out about my gluten intolerance a lot later. So, like, cutting that out, I've noticed such a difference in, like, my energy levels, my happiness.

See, I went on, like, a whole protocol that now, like, I take my daily supplements. If I'm not, like, feeling 100%, I have, like, certain ones that I know will, like, make me feel better. And so, yeah, did a lot of research into all of that as well. Yeah. Like, this stuff takes work, right?

Like, and it's also playing with, you know, different set. Like, everyone's different, too. Like, I have a gene maybe where I'm more allergic to dairy. You know, some people do great with dairy and then, like, some supplements, like, people, like, ashwagandha, makes me tired. So it's like, kind of playing with things and seeing what works for you and what makes you thrive and what makes your energy, you know, go up.

And so everyone's body's different. So it's like, kind of, like, pick and choose based off of how you feel. And then also, of course, I love how you, like, tested and figured out, like, you know, making sure, like, I think lab work and doing these tests can be so beneficial for people. And, yes, it might be a little more expensive, but, like, once you have your health, it takes, you know, a little bit. It's a little bit more expensive than insurance, and then.

But you're getting to the root cause and you could feel amazing after, you know, like, yeah, it's like, invest in your health because, like, that's your best investment, right? Like, your happiness. Definitely, definitely. And, like, long term, it's gonna end up probably being cheaper than you constantly, like, just putting a band aid on everything and being like, okay, I'll just take this thing. I'll take that thing.

Like, I think when you just invest in yourself now, it is annoying to have to, like, do these things. Like, me having to, like, be on this specific protocol for, like, a couple months, it was, like, really frustrating. But I was like, I know that there's light at the end of the tunnel, and I know once I finish this, like, I'm gonna feel so much better. So it's really just, like, also pushing yourself when you're doing it, being like, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Everything's gonna be fine.

Yeah, I think, like, people don't want to put in the work because it's more time consuming than taking a medication. And it seems like it's going to cost more, but in the long run, it's going to cost you less. You will feel better, and, like, you know, you won't be. Be relying on a medication, you know? And I just.

I think those things cover up your happiness. Like, I think medication is, like, you know, sometimes it's needed, but I think we go to that way too quickly as an answer, and it's not an answer. It's a band aid, like you said. And I think, like, try and do these other things first, you know? Yeah, definitely starting off with other things first.

And, like, if it doesn't work out, like, okay, like, that's last case. Yeah, yeah. So then, so you typically work with patients, and then do you have, like. So you do goals and everything? Do you have them work on their physical body or health at all?

No, I'm mostly just a mindset. I focus on the mindset, usually. Do you do, like, gratitude journal? Like, do you have them do all of that? Do you have a specific protocol or packages that you do?

Maybe a 30 day challenge or something? Yeah, so I do have. I have my own 30 day workbook that I put up. It's in, like, my instagram. So that's, like, a 30 days to a happier you journal.

And it's, like, gratitude affirmations. Every single day, there's, like, a new challenge. But, yeah, I think just, like, being able to practice gratitude every day, I've noticed that make a difference for, like, a lot of people. Like, saying affirmations and writing, like, nice things about yourself and, like, putting them on your wall or, like, your window. Just, like, being able to see that every single day.

It's really, like, those little habits. Like, even when I started working on myself, in the beginning, I was like, I'm just gonna put affirmations around my room so that I can, like, see it in places. And at first, like, you don't believe it, but as soon as you, like, you take time and you're like, okay, I'm seeing it more and more. Our thoughts end up just becoming more hardwired, and then you actually believe it a little bit more, and then again, it becomes your mindset so much. So everyone has to go follow you and do your 30 day journal challenge.

That's so amazing. I didn't know you had that. So, is there anything else that you would want to tell listeners that would give them happiness? Like, kind of, like, any little things? I think just overall, like, remembering again that, like, happiness isn't an all or nothing thing.

It's unrealistic to feel happy 100% of the time, but those little habits are what are really gonna make a big difference in your life. Just shifting your mindset, like, making those little daily things. It's kind of like if you're filling up a cup, like, it's just those little drops of water, and then one day that whole cup is filled. So just, like, being patient with that and just remembering that, like, you're able to get to that happiness, but it does take, like, the time and effort. Yeah, I think so.

And I think doing, like, these little practices of health of, like, getting enough sleep, you know, drink, staying hydrated, getting movement in is also very key for, like, happiness. So I think it just goes hand in, like, do the mental, do the journal, do the physical, and also make sure, like, all your lab work is great. Yes. We could all be really happy because I feel like I'm so much happier doing these practices. And that's why, like, I'm so passionate about bio hacking and, like, health, because it's, like, provided me happiness, right?

Like, real happiness, real energy, real excitement. So I think, like, and I've also done a. Read a lot of, I guess, self help books and, you know, done a lot of practice as well with that. So I love this so much. So since this is the Biohacker Blondie podcast, I always ask my guests, like, three of their favorite biohacks.

They want to tell all the listeners that they implement daily or just your favorite health hacks. I think, again, gratitude every morning, I think, is just a big mental health hack because anytime you're feeling down will automatically change how you're feeling. The second one, like, trying to think of the ones that I use supplements, like, I've just noticed for me, I think, again, there's different ones that work for you, but for me, it's been like St. John's wort or like ashwagandha and things like that. If I'm not feeling 100% like saffron.

And again, no screen time. As soon as you wake up in the morning and just getting your day started so that you're just, like, getting in the flow of things. Oh, I love that. Yeah, it's hard because it's like, you want to, like, start going to work and, like, even for me, like, I'll get distracted with things. I'm like, no, I need to get movement in.

And then the days where I just go at it and don't get movement in, I feel like I'm off. I don't feel as great. So, like, just staying away from work for a bit and doing your journal and, like, getting some movement first thing, getting some sunlight can really do wonders. So it's like all these things add up, right? They really, really do little things.

Anyways, well, thank you so much for coming on the podcast. I'm really grateful to have you on here and talk all things happiness and yeah, this was so great. I hope this helps people think about their mindset. So thank you. Thank you so much for having me on here.
